Product description
Jacquard's Ice Dye Spumoni is a blend of many different colors that separate and "split" into incredible multicolored patterns when used with the ice dyeing technique. Cover the folded or scrunched fabric with ice, sprinkle the dye over it, and let the ice melt!
Ice dyeing is one of the easiest and most satisfying dyeing techniques available, and the process is simple: soak the cotton fabric in a soda ash solution (use 2 cups of soda ash per 3.5–4 liters of water for ice dyeing), wring out the fabric and tie, fold, or scrunch it; then place it in a colander, cover it with ice or snow, and sprinkle dye over the ice. Let the ice melt overnight in a warm place, then rinse and wash the fabric 24–48 hours later.
The ice causes the individual colors of the dye to "split" and create an incredible, crystal-like pattern of many different colors—almost like a kaleidoscope. Imagine the folded fabric as a mountain range: the peaks will take on a different color than the valleys, and in between, you will see a beautiful layering of various colors.
